About me

Great design can connect humans, evoke emotion and has the power to improve someone's life.

I've always been interested in design. Even in my first job as a restaurant manager, I loved creating mural boards of weekly specials using different typefaces that caught my eye.

So I decided to delve more into the creative space and studied the world of Graphic Design. In fact, it was during my studies in Graphic Design that ultimately led me to UX, and I haven't looked back.

Since 2010, I have actively been involved in the creative and technology industries, taking on roles in Product Design, User Experience, and Graphic design. My focus is on digital products with a passion for creating simple and creative solutions to complex real-world problems that bring delight. I enjoy working across the entire product design life cycle, from leading discoveries and conducting research to facilitating design workshops and UI design.

I am currently a product designer at the National Australia Bank (NAB), one of the largest financial institutions in Australia servicing over 8.5 million customers. I'm part of the Personal Everyday Banking team who aims to make banking simpler and easier with its products, tools and helpful calculators.

Outside of design, my interests include bike packing, travelling, visiting art and photography galleries, researching new technologies, and music/podcasts. Check out my Series page, where you’ll see more of my creative flair.

*Disclaimer - I wrote the last part pre-baby. I now reminisce about a life with more free time to do anything or just sleep : )

In a previous life, I set up and ran a screen printing studio, damnfineprint.com.

My Process

For me, it’s all about collaboration and bringing people together on the journey with you. I work with the business, UX research, and analytics teams to understand and create problem statements.

I then turn these problems into solutions at a Rumble Session workshop, with stakeholders, designers, developers, and anyone else who will be working on the project. The session starts with a short brief that gives context and defines focus areas. We then work in smaller groups, usually two or three, with specific problem areas, and get together to present back to the larger group.

The key focus of the Rumble is to generate breakthrough ideas for the given focus areas. The output is usually sketches or rough storyboards, making the suggested solutions tangible and easy to communicate in UI design direction.

The next step is to turn these ideas into high-fidelity prototypes that feel real, test well, and deliver the desired business outcomes.
